How To: Mindfulness

This is where mindfulness comes into play. Mindfulness is the most simple way to change yourself and your mindset by observing your thoughts and actions.

Here are a few steps to take to begin your mindful practice:

  1. Set aside time when you know you won’t be interrupted

  2. Turn off your phone and other distractions

  3. Find a position that is comfortable for you. Sit with a straight back, instead of leaning back or resting. Make sure you are comfortable, yet attentive.

  4. Close your eyes and observe your breathing as is. You don’t need to change your breathing patterns, just observe your breath going in and out.

  5. Observe any thoughts that come into your mind, but don’t let them concern you. Let them go and bring your focus back to your breathing.

  6. Begin with this exercise for 5 minutes, and add time if you’d like.

Try doing this everyday and increase your time when you feel ready.
